The Instinct of Life

Very few things match up to the satisfaction of living those episodic albeit few moments when we make a decision without the perpetual hesitance of doubt and so-called reason.

It is impossible to know the right from wrong without trying both. The wind does not blow in opportunities every second day. Nothing is more aggrieving than reminiscing the times in life when we made a neutral decision just to safeguard ourselves. Fortune does favour the brave. Go out and take that chance, for it is the only way you will find out where it can lead you. No road is a dead-end. Think of it as making your own destiny; and if you already believe in a pre-existing one then think of it as claiming what was in store for you anyways.

I fail to understand why people say – make the most of what you have. Why not try to attain more? After all it is in human nature to want more. I think striving for more and the best should be a way of life. There is a distinct line between ambition and greed. The former is what drives us – it is what should drive us, to go after all that we dream of and to help us make new dreams. The latter is just the beginning of decadence.

It is never too late when it comes to living. Head out and fascinate yourselves with the power of now. Be instinctive when intelligence fails you. The worst that can come from a decision is a mistake - so? Make mistakes, learn and move on. Everything in life is a learning experience.

True enlightenment lies in understanding that it is not life that tests us. We have a knack of subjecting ourselves to perpetual perusal. Let go and learn from life – live. Passionately follow your instincts for you will inevitably end up subjecting them to your rationality.

  1. I get the gist of what you're saying - Live life freely, strive for more and understand the choices you make without regretting it coz you need to make both right and wrong to perceive the value of both and be passionate about what you do without letting doubt befuddle you. However I would disagree with the 'try to attain more' point.

Firstly it isn't inherently human nature to 'want more'. 'Curiosity' most definitely is human nature but wanting more has nothing to do with our inner soul. Its about the world we live in that drives this feeling in making it inseparable from the choices we make for e.g. from the moment we are born, we see everyone around us aim for more, bigger, better. No one applauds less and thats why we condition ourselves to think this way of 'more'. There isn't 1 single answer between 'should be content with what you have' or 'shouldn't be content and strive for more' , it depends on what the individual truly really wants. If its happiness and peace he/she seeks and is content with less then less it is or vice-versa. Point being there is no judgement on even the fine line which everyone should follow. It is the individuals choice of experience he/she wants!

  2. Dear NJ,

It is nice to have your opinion on the piece. Nonetheless I will stick to my stand. For, out of experience, I can say that humans also tend to be hypocritical by nature. It just that we like to think we are a righteous lot are content with what we have and honest in all walks of life. The fact is that humans, as a species, have made it to the present stage of evolution primarily due to their instinctive urge of claiming their supremacy over everything around. It can be seen in all measures. It is just about acknowledging this and living. This is not a bad thing. By no means whatsoever.

    My best,
    Shoan
