The Pursuit of Happiness
There is no aspect of life greater than personal happiness.
The inclusion of the clause -
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness
- in the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson simply brought forth the three most important goals of life.
The gift of Life is already given to us and its purpose shall be wholly fulfilled only by living by the other two principles - Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness - as a means of life. Liberty becomes a constitutional right in many ways when one lives in a civilized society. So no matter how much we might wish to redefine the implications of ‘Liberty’, we will still have to do so within the norms declared by society and a land’s laws. The only virtue that we may have completely in our control is the pursuit of happiness.
There are no limits and laws applicable when an individual is on a quest of seeking and achieving things that give him/her the sense of fulfillment. Unfortunately, social stigmas and mindsets become roadblocks resulting from inhibitions of doing against ‘popular’ beliefs. These popular beliefs arising from the unexplained ideologies from various sections of civilization.
There mustn’t be any limits and laws applicable when an individual is on a quest of seeking and achieving things that give him/her the sense of fulfillment. Life, as a journey, will remain incomplete and obsolete if one is not contented with his everyday. The sense of regret at not having done or tried something is worse than that of failure.
Let there be no limits and laws applicable when an individual is on a quest of seeking and achieving things that give him/her the sense of fulfillment. Every living creature is entitled to his/her own pursuit of happiness. One must only understand that from start to end, it is only a matter of individual choice.
